Day in the life of going abroad...
Morning:
Get kids ready to camp.
Drive to New City to drop them off.
Head to starbucks.
Send text message to a friend of a friend in Israel who knows about schools in Rehovot. She'll call back later.
First, call insurance company to deal with vacation override on medications. Find out that you'll probably have to call them back in a month to do it again.
Call pharmacy to tell them that they do have a 90 day supply and not a 30.
Check on kids' global entry, discover my passwords don't work, request new passwords, schedule their appointments which are after we leave DC but hope that walk-ins work
10:48 am: Phone is already down to 27%. Yeah, I think I'm switching back to the droid after all.
Send bank info to cousin who will transfer money to hold our apartment in Rehovot. Need to figure out how many USD I have to have ready for him.
Call insurance company about adding someone to my car. Answer: I'll get back to you.
Talk to insurance company about switching to landlord insurance. Answer: I'll get back to you.
Call Nancy about taking our fish. Will be done tonight.
10:56: time to check again on global entry. Good, everyone is set and I won't forget the passwords anymore. need to check daily for an appointment when we are in DC.
Letter came from my institution in israel supporting me getting a visa. I think I'm out of days to all go to NYC and get the visa. And unless I get to DC thurs night, I won't have a day in Dc. this is definitely (sadly) going to happen in Israel. And I just read complaints on some facebook rehovot page about how hard it is to get an appointment at the misrad ha'pnim (department of interior)
time to call about dog. haven't figured out dog for first month. fish will move tonight.
called inlaws to wish happy birthday to mother-in-law and discuss fla to atlanta plans.
12:27 pm: pulling in to palisades mall. battery is on 2%. gonna sit in car and charge it up to a whopping 10%.
Work on online course I've been neglecting.
Watch cheesecake factory mess up my salad three times, until they finally gave me a free lunch.
3:02 pm:try to order an up arrow key cap for my macbook. failed to do so.
3:02 pm: money sent to apartment in Israel. Learn where I can get some groceries on our first day in Israel.
3:19 pm: Call back insurance to ask about cars again. He says he'll call back in less than 30 min.
3:30 pm: on phone with escrow people about the money we are supposed to have refunded.
3:41 pm: back on phone with insurance agent.
Talk to friend about taking our car while we are gone.
Pick kids up from camp.
Get our fish out of the fish tank and drop them off at Nancy's. Calm Sivan down who is really really angry at me for taking her fish away.
Test the kids on some Hebrew vocabulary.
I finally sealed up our first suitcase to Israel. The winter clothes.
Make list of all the things to do the next day. Look around at our super messy house. Ugh.
