Matan, i love you.
I have really gotten to know matan in the last month. Partially because I'm spending more time with him, but largely because more of his thoughts/personality is now revealed through his language.
He is so good natured, although he is now capable of some pretty good temper tantrums. He loves to laugh when others do, and is maybe the only person who likes being laughed at. He is sweet and loving. He is a bit of a tough toddler--making messes wherever he goes, but his intentions are always good (let's see what happens when i put my hands in the water or pour this all over the floor).
He asks "why?" all the time now. And he wants to know where we're going when we get in the car. I tell him and then he says "hokay!"
While slower to warm up than Sivan (who required no time to warm up to new people), once he trusts you, he is great.
Today, we had a great conversation. We were driving and he asked his sister if her toe was better (he remembered that she injured her toe earlier in the day). I praised him for his kindness and told him that he should be a doctor.
He replied "mani too little to carry people"
I realized he didn't know he was growing up! So I explained...Matan, you are going to be big. Just like Aba! Remember you were a little baby and you are getting bigger. Okay?
"hokay!"
so then he started telling me all about what he was going to do.
he was going to be a doctor and wanted a truck...i told him he could also drive ambulances. He decided he wanted to drive them FAST and FAST! he decided he was going to drive and then "hit the doctor". no, no, matan! doctors help you. "hokay"
so, he is going to ride an orange pony, drive an orange ambulance, have an orange plane, and be a doctor! oh, and have an orange little puppy. matan loves orange.
matan is very particular. things have to be just so. he quickly learns routine/order. for example, he once picked up abas shoes and moved them to the shoe place.
When he goes down a new slide, someone has to stand at the bottom "closer closer" and put his arms "like this" and matan demonstrates crossing arms in front of the slide. if there is sand on the slide, that has to be cleaned first.
his particularities are so cute and funny to me, as they reveal his individualism.
anyway, i write about matan, while holding him in my lap. he's sick with a 101.6 fever and swollen eye and i'm a very worried, unhappy mother. we have leftover antibiotics from sivan and joe (doc friend here) recommended putting him on them.
hokay. hope you feel better my little mani!
